RETRO-PROSPECTIVE
Brussels, 2019 March 14th - 17th
COLLECTIBLE FAIR
The “RETRO-PROSPECTIVE” show places the visitor in a suspended time, in a symbolic in-between space that subtly goes beyond the usual distinction between things that are useful and those that are not. With reinterpretations and alterations of everyday functional objects sometimes archetypal and very contemporary, sensual and extremely mechanical, silent and poetic.
The show is the occasion to unveil two new projects: “Le Salon” by Agathe Labaye & Florian Sumi in collaboration with the leather artist Dragovan and the “Cabaret” nightstand by Atelier LAVIT.
“Le Salon” collection consists of two 25-centimeters high Japanese-style low seats, where the stainless steel sheets and ‘studs’ constrain large pieces of soft or braided leather; a bench with carved oak armrests, stainless steel legs and braided leather backrest and a wide and deep armchair, with a woven backrest designed much as a dorsal corset hugging the lines of the backbone and shoulder blades.
The “Cabaret” low table is made with a slight, almost imperceptible steel structure that supports three discs made out of brass. Such as a curtain, a metal ring mesh protects the objects stored inside.
A family of furniture and art works -previously edited by It's Great Design- accompany the novelties. The “Pinceau” suspended lamps by Pierre Charrié, the “Pillars” by Antoine Espinasseau and the screen “Mirage” by Juliette Le Goff and Nicolas Verschaeve while a long shelf will house a collection of heterogeneous vases. Among them, new vases from the “Tropical Modernism” collection by Célia Picard & Hannes Schreckenberger and “Papiers” by Andrea Branzi, both unique pieces, which could remind of vases/containers, whose purpose however is just evoked.
On the walls are the art installation “Again” by Lorenzo Butti and the mirror “Reflet” by Claire Lavabre.
